The Fox’s Homemade Custard

It’s starting to get cold up here in Queensland, where I live. Ok – so not nearly as cold as it is down Victoria or Tassie way – but for us Queenslanders, whenever the temperature drops below 10 degrees, we all fall apart. And we all start cooking warm things and comfort foods. And this week’s recipe is definitely both of those things. And what’s more? I’ve recruited a very special guest star in the kitchen to prepare it. My brother, Flynn – aka The Fox – who you might know from his Friday Squiz Kids segment, What’s Up Fox? This is Flynn’s special home-made custard – which is not only super yummy – but it also warms your tummy. Enjoy!

2 whole eggs
3 tbs cornflour
3 cups of milk
3 tbs sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence

  1. Whisk eggs, cornflour and milk together in a saucepan until smooth
  2. Continue whisking on stovetop until custard becomes thick and creamy
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in sugar and vanilla

Rosie’s Ratings:

Squaffability: 5/5
Tummy warming rating: 5/5
Kid-friendly prep: 3/5 (you’ll need help with the stove and it’s a good idea to have an adult keep an eye on your whisking)
